Punishment for a class 2 misdemeanor is anywhere from three to 12 months in county jail, and/or a fine ranging from $250 to $1,000.
A class 1 misdemeanor is the most serious of all misdemeanors. It is punishable by anywhere from six to 18 months in jail and/or a fine that ranges from $500 to $5,000. If the misdemeanor is deemed an extraordinary risk offense, then the penalty may increase to up to two years in county jail.
It is important to note that if the crime is not so severe, a plea bargain may be made so that the accused be given a lesser punishment such as community service or probation instead of jail time.
